Other than the ambitious financial goal, what sort of volunteer help will you be looking for?

Hey Mike...thanks for your interest. Right now we have about 75% of the funding in place so we think our funding objectives are very achievable. The volunteer help breaks down into a number of categories including:
--Solicitation
--Physical Labor...rolling rocks
--Working at fund raising events like the Creek Festible
--Contributing professional expertise in various areas

"The life of every river sings its own song, but in most the song is long marred by the discords of misuse."
- Aldo Leopold (1886-1948), Sand County Almanac.

Boulder Creek has suffered from over one hundred years of misuse from the cummulative takings by our Boulder communities. Let's give back and enjoy the old song of our river which has been long forgotten. We have the opportunity to restore the Boulder Creek riparian landscape in ways not seen before our lifetimes.

Since the City of Boulder purchace of Barker Reservoir from Excel Energy, the city has voluntarily maintained 7cfs releases during the fall and winter months for minimum flows. Fish need water every day and winter minimum flow regimes are critical for fish populations. The Boulder Creek project will enhance winter holding areas resulting in increased numbers and biomass of fish populations.

Please read Paul's post and let's get'ter done for Boulder Creek!

Boulder Creek is and has been a great place to fish. Fly fisherman are the stewards of the river. "We speak for the fish for they have no tongues" well they actual do have tongues but I like the line from the Lorax of Dr. Seuss.

Are local fly shops and guides promoting the restoration project to their clients? Maybe incorporate an incentive for some fly shop schwag, if they volunteer with their favorite fly shop. Community service projects always bring people together. I would love to help 'market' the opportunity, and roll some rocks or share my expertise in environmental education and group dynamics.
